First off, a breif description of what beatboxing is.

Beatboxing is a form of art. It is a musical art. The description is quite simple, really: Making music with the mouth. So does this mean that singing is beatboxing? Well, I guess technically, yes. More commonly, though, beatboxing is making musical beats with the mouth. At the very basic level, it's just imitating the sounds that acoustic or electric drums (or really any other percussion instrument) with the mouth. Of course, it's not just limited to drum sounds. Very often beatboxing also includes "basslines," which are essentially humming really low tones as if it were a bass (the instrument). Another common sound is "scratching," which is imitating the sounds that turntablers make with their turntables. That's one I'm not particularly good at. I try sometimes, though.

I've been beatboxing for about 4 years now. Well, sure, we all make noises with our mouths, often without knowing it. I'm sure I did that most of my life, too, but only for about 4 years have I been doing it intentionally and knowing waht it was, and making efforts to practice and sometimes even perform it publicly. I like to think that I'm pretty good at it. Not a complete master, but still pretty good.

So one of my friends has recently talked me into releasing a CD. No, I'm not going through a big recording company or produciton company. It's just John and I. I've gone through some recordings I've made over the years in my awesome recording studio (bedroom). So I'll try to maybe organize them somehow, and put them on a CD and start makin copies. Right now I don't know how much play time there will be. I'm hoping for at least 30 minutes. I may record some more stuff too if I think it's neccesary.

Hopefully I'll have information here on the website about the tracks, since I probalby won't be distributing nifty little jewel cases with nifty little booklets inside with the nifty information. I'll just put it here.

John said he would be a sales rep for me, as long as I paid him a percentage of what was made on the CD's. I offered 20%, which he graciously accepted--he said he was only going to ask 10%. Oh well! Fine by me, I'm not planning to get rich off of this. So I guess a price per CD is not set in stone yet.

If you are insterested in a copy when they are released, let me know. I'm not putting an email address here yet. Chances are, if you found this site, you already know me, and already know how to contanct me one way or another. If you can think of a fair price for amature recording/production of such a CD, let me know about that, too.

Check back soon!
